Brave Foundation works alongside school and health professionals, to help pregnant and parenting young people realise and achieve their goals.
It is Brave Foundation’s mission to equip and support your secondary school and its professionals as well as the teen in the event of teenage pregnancy. Research has shown that, by engaging pregnant or parenting teens in education, their future and their child’s future is changed dramatically. Together we can be the first point of access to equip and inspire pregnant teens, and to instil courage and confidence with support and education pathways.

Our Interactive Pregnancy Timeline brings the pregnancy journey to life with month by month information on what to expect and steps to take, particularly with continuing education. We suggest a teacher and student go through the timeline together to work towards an educational plan for the student and their promises for the future whilst allowing for the demands of maternity leave and becoming a parent.
Brave Little Bear: The inspirational story of a teenage mother by Bernadette Black (Founder Director of Brave Foundation and Barnardos Australian Mother of the Year) is a great resource to inspire the pregnant teen towards a great future. A teacher may like to encourage their student to write their three promises on the inside cover of the book.
Download and adopt the National Policy Standard for Secondary Schools. Your secondary school can use this standard as a policy guide to assist the pregnant or parenting student. This also addresses questions that your school may need to consider.
We know that many pregnant and parenting young people have unique challenges at this stage in their lives including financial barriers to education. Our Brokerage and Scholarships are linked to individual goals and provide financial assistance for our participants to access education, training and workforce participation activities.
