Hear from real people who have been in your situation before.
All of a sudden your family structure is looking different and you may think this is an experience you never thought you would be a part of. Please know, you will be ok and the future can still be a bright one.
Many people say ‘teenage pregnancy happens to someone else,’ when the fact is that most people know a person, or of a person, that has experienced a teenage pregnancy. Teenage pregnancy doesn’t discriminate, it occurs in every community of Australia and the way through is building up the village of support and acceptance around expecting and parenting teens. This is a part of your journey.
We have all the support and services available to connect you here at Brave Foundation. Your families journey in unplanned pregnancy can be a great one that will see you and this new baby in a healthy, happy, skilled family over time. At Brave Foundation, we know that in many situations this future can look impossible. That is why we are here, to provide the support and encouragement you need to equip and enhance your role during this.
Even in a planned pregnancy, people have many questions, let alone the questions you may have when this surprise wasn’t expected! This part of the site is dedicated to a brief description of pregnancy and its stages as you navigate through the interactive pregnancy timeline. Whether unplanned or not, we each have the same realistic wonderings of pregnancy, birth and beyond. Read here, look at the beautiful artwork, and be informed and equipped in knowing the journey that your family member is on.
Continue to look around the Brave Foundation site, particularly the maps, to see what community support, maternity support and educational options are available in your community. Your teenager can contact Kids Helpline if they need immediate professional counselling support on 1800 55 1800 or visit their website at kidshelpline.com.au. Brave Foundation has partnered with Kids Helpline to provide this support to expecting and parenting teens.
At any time you can begin an online chat with us, and we will respond within the next working day. At Brave we all have a personal connection with teenage pregnancy and parenthood. We will be by your side as we find what support and educational services are available to help you in Australia. Simply email us at email@example.com. The kettle is on.
You will also find different stories on this website of how others dealt with teenage pregnancy in their families, Dads, Mums, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles – all a vital part of the Brave Village. Please share your story with us and become a part of the Brave Village. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
