Awarded for Outstanding Work with Regional Young People in NSW
The work of Brave Foundation and the mentor team in regional and rural New South Wales has been recognised at the NSW Youth Work Awards, held in Sydney on Thursday 26 October. The team won the award for Outstanding Work with Regional Young People.
In New South Wales, Brave currently has two mentors to support expecting and parenting young people – Danielle, located in Newcastle who supports participants in Cessnock and Maitland areas, and virtual mentor, Karina, who supports participants who are isolated by location or circumstance.
CEO Jill Roche, who attended the awards ceremony and accepted the award alongside Danielle, said Brave was honoured to be acknowledged among other impressive NSW youth services.
“This award recognises the exceptional support provided by Danni on the ground and Karina through our virtual program. We’re immensely proud of our dedicated mentors and the young parents we work with. This accomplishment underscores their hard work and commitment,” Jill said.
“We are incredibly honoured to receive this award for our support of young parents in NSW. The young parents we work with show commitment and bravery every day and they are achieving wonderful outcomes for themselves, their children, and the future generations of their family. This award is also for them,” Karina said.
Having our mentors and our SEPT program acknowledged among the field of impressive youth services was especially encouraging but is also wonderful acknowledgment of the value seen in the young parent’s we work with.
The NSW Youth Work Awards, hosted by Youth Action is an annual celebration of the exceptional work of youth services and youth workers across NSW. The Outstanding Work with Regional Young People category was sponsored by the Department of Regional NSW. Brave acknowledges the other nominees for this award category and the other award winners.
