Put the World in Their Hands

"With their help, everything started to feel possible.” - Halle, SEPT Participant & Young Mum

Halle became a mum at 17. Her pregnancy was shaped by trauma and instability. For a while, life was about survival, and nearly three years ago she and her daughter were living in a women’s shelter when she joined Brave’s Supporting Expecting and Parenting Teens (SEPT) program. With the support of a mentor, Halle was able to navigate housing, safety and her own wellbeing – for the first time, things began to feel possible.

Halle has now secured a home and started rebuilding her confidence and sense of self. Life still has its challenges, but she is more grounded, supported by her “sassy” little daughter and a belief in herself. With encouragement from her mentor, she also rediscovered her creativity, going on to share her artwork at the Turning Point Symposium earlier this year.

Halle’s artwork is at the heart of this fundraising appeal because it tells the story better than words ever could: when young parents are supported they grow, create and build futures for their children.
