Experienced leaders appointed to Brave Foundation Board

Brave Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of two new directors, Honorary Associate Professor Jennifer Fraser and Caitlin Cosmo, to the Brave Foundation Board.

Board Chair Professor Maria Harries AM said the appointments will augment the skills and experience across the Board as the organisation continues its work supporting young parents and their children.

“Jennifer and Caitlin bring complementary expertise across research, practice, finance and governance, enhancing the overall capability of the Board. Their appointments will support strong oversight as Brave continues to deliver its Vision 2030 strategy,” Professor Harries said.

Dr Jennifer Fraser is an Honorary Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney with more than 20 years’ experience in academic teaching, research and leadership. Her work focuses on child protection, early intervention and the prevention of child abuse and neglect, with a strong emphasis on health professional education, cultural safety and Aboriginal child health. Jennifer holds qualifications in nursing, psychology and public health research and is widely recognised for translating evidence into policy and practice across health and child protection systems.

Caitlin Cosmo is a finance and risk professional with over ten years’ experience in external audit, financial reporting and governance across the not‑for‑profit, health and professional services sectors. She is currently a Director in professional services, working closely with boards, executive teams and audit and risk committees. Caitlin is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce.

Brave CEO Jill Roche welcomed the appointments, highlighting the value the new directors bring to Brave’s work with young parents.

“Jennifer and Caitlin have both expressed a passion and understanding for the importance of supporting expecting and parenting young people as early as possible in their parenting journey,” Ms Roche said.

“Their experience will directly inform how Brave continues to respond to the needs of young parents. Their insights will strengthen our governance and ensure Brave remains evidence-informed, sustainable and focused on creating lasting impact.”

Jennifer said: “Brave’s work aligns closely with my passion for early support for families. I’m delighted to join the board and support an organisation that is making a real difference to young parents and their children through practical, evidence-informed support.”

Caitlin said: “I am excited to join the Board of Brave Foundation and contribute to an organisation making a meaningful impact in the community. I look forward to supporting its continued growth through my experience in audit, risk and governance.”

The appointments were confirmed at Brave’s Board meeting in May 2026. The Board also thanked retiring directors Irene Quah and Angie Mastrippolito for their valuable contributions to the organisation.
