Kristiann McConnell
Mentor - Midland, WA
From an early age Kristiann developed a strong passion for wanting to help others and to work with children and families. She started that journey in 2003 working in childcare where she completed studies in children’s services.
In 2013 Kristiann started working in the community services sector, facilitating playgroups and parenting sessions, developing rhyme time sessions, linking families into external services and supporting with referral pathways.
During this role, Kristiann developed a passion for empowering, connecting and developing families throughout their parenting journey, to support families achieve great outcomes and create cycles of change for themselves. She is a strong believer that knowledge is power and parents/young people don’t know different until they are given the knowledge and support to know different (in the parenting world these are tools for their toolbox)
Kristiann was a young mum herself and even though she had a village of support from her family, she still felt a lot of shame and judgement from others because she was young and didn’t have all the knowledge or experience a mature aged mum may have. Kristiann believes all families can thrive with the right support, especially our young parents.
