Brave seeks to affect change by amplifying the voices of young parents in submissions and responses to government. The submissions are available to download.

Select Committee on the Cost of Living (2024)

Our submission calls for urgent action from the federal government to relieve the cost-of-living pressures for young parents and to increase support for critical, free services such as Brave. Brave emphasises the need for young parents to be recognised at a federal level for their vulnerabilities, but also for their ability to reach their boundless potential when provided with the right supports.

WA Youth Action Plan Consultation (2024)

Brave Foundation submitted a response to the consultation for a new Action Plan for young people in Western Australia.

NSW 2024-25 Pre Budget Submission

The Pre-Budget submission requested the NSW Government co-invest with the Federal Government to grow our capacity to support expecting and parenting young people in NSW.

Federal Government 2024-25 Pre-Budget Submission

Our Pre-Budget submission called on the Australian Government to provide funding for Brave to continue its existing program delivery for a further 12 months and consider long-term sustainable funding arrangements.

Putting Queensland Kids First Consultation survey response (2024)

Brave Foundation submitted a survey response to the consultation which focused on the need to address the structural barriers families face to thrive.

Review of Financial Wellbeing & Capability programs (2024)

This submission provided feedback to the federal Department of Social Services in its review of the Financial Wellbeing and Capability (FWC) programs in January 2024.

South Australia Youth Action Plan Submission (2023)

This submission provides evidence, commentary and recommendations focused primarily on the importance of supporting young South Australian parents to flourish.

A new voluntary parent support service – ParentsNext Recommendations (2023)

This proposal builds on and consolidates previous information provided to government with a focus on supporting expecting and parenting young people. A key recommendation is for priority to be given to a service to support young parents from pregnancy, to be introduced and funded by the end of 2023, ahead of the conclusion of the ParentsNext program in June 2024.

South Australian Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education & Care Submission (2023)

This submission provides evidence, commentary and recommendations focused primarily on why South Australian families – specifically young parents and their children – should be supported in the first 1000 days of a child’s life from the earliest point (conception) to enable equitable and improved outcomes for South Australian children to thrive.

National Early Years Strategy Submission (2023)

This submission provides evidence, commentary and recommendations focused primarily on why the National Early Years Strategy needs to ensure families – specifically young parents and their children – should be supported from the earliest point (conception) to provide critical foundations for the early years that help future generations to thrive.

Our Pre-Budget submission called for funding for an alternative and complementary program focusing on young parents to replace ParentsNext.

Inquiry into Workforce Australia Employment Services – ParentsNext Recommendations (2022)

Our Inquiry response provided commentary and recommendations directly related to the role of ParentsNext in providing early intervention services to young parents and carers of young children as part of the employment services system.
