Carlos Castro

Mentor - Young Dads Program, Newcastle, NSW

Carlos was born in Guatemala, grew up in the United States, lived and worked in Germany as an educator and now resides in Newcastle, Australia. With a Bachelor in Social Sciences and Diploma of Community Services; Carlos brings over 16 years of experience delivering support to individuals of different backgrounds, nationalities, circumstances and age. He has a particular passion for helping others navigate through challenges, identify their own goals and reach positive outcomes which unlock their boundless potential.

Most recently, Carlos worked as a Therapeutic Youth Support Worker and provided supports to vulnerable young people in out-of-home-care across various key areas such as mental health, wellbeing, safety, education, goal setting, relationships, community connection and identity.

Carlos has a strong belief that a Brave village of support and acceptance will not only bring young dads the much-needed opportunities to overcome the barriers affecting young parents, but ultimately work towards building a better and brighter future with strong, healthy, happy and skilled families.
